Birdwatching

Island Adventures operates specialized birdwatching tours which are guided by some of the most senior birding guides in Sri Lanka. 7 – 10 day Tours to see the residents including the 33 endemic species all year round and longer 12 – 14 day trips during the months between November and April provide the opportunity to see the huge number of migrant species who make Sri Lanka their winter home when they fly south to avoid the harsh northern winters.

Cycling Tours

Perhaps the most rewarding way to explore Sri Lanka… The possibilities are many for Sri Lanka Cycling tours. Ranging from half day excursions to explore nearby villages and forest trails located around your base, to challenging 6 – 10 day cycle tours which span the island or reach from coast to coast. Island Adventures provides varying degrees of support for cycling tours based on each travellers’ or groups’ preference. Certain tours will include support vehicles and crew, mechanics and even physiotherapists, while others may only include high quality bikes, a route map and hotel reservations.

Trekking Tours

The sheer diversity of terrain, climate and ecology which can be experienced during a short space of time and the richness of local village culture is what makes Sri Lanka an irresistible trekking destination. A seven day trekking tour of Sri Lanka can easily include trekking through the surprisingly lush, flat plains of the dry-zone with its rice fields, emerald lakes, scrub forests, amazing wildlife and interesting agriculture, trekking the mountain forests of the central hills at 6,000 feet above sea level, through tea plantations and beside cascading waterfalls, the Horton Plains and cloud forest, scaling peaks such as Adam’s Peak, through tropical rainforests and the coastal plains through coconut groves and rubber plantations.
